Celebrating a Milestone Year: TransitAnalyst in 2024
As we approach the end of another remarkable year, the team at TransitAnalyst is excited to reflect on our achievements and share highlights from 2024. This year has been transformative, with the system now in widespread use across more than 50 ports and waterways in 7 countries. We’ve reached significant milestones, including a database surpassing 1 billion AIS data points and 200,000 transits—and counting! New data flows in at a rate of 50 position reports every second, ensuring our clients have access to up-to-date, actionable insights.
For some of our valued clients, 2024 marked another achievement: surpassing 10,000 past pilotage jobs in their individual databases, cementing TransitAnalyst as an integral part of their operations.
2024 Highlights: A Year of Collaboration and Growth
Here are just a few standout moments from the year:
- Supporting Crisis Management: TransitAnalyst played a key role in assisting stakeholders with a rapid first-assessment of a high-profile passenger ferry grounding. Our system provided critical insights to help stakeholders respond to media enquiries.
- Expanding Partnerships: We were thrilled to win Ports Victoria’s public tender for the provision of AIS Big Data Analysis services, further strengthening TransitAnalyst’s presence in Australia.
- Empowering Smaller Communities: In partnership with the NZMPA, Navicom Dynamics, and the Ports of Auckland, we provided an AIS receiver and TransitAnalyst system to the pilots of Rarotonga, a small Pacific Island. This initiative underscores our commitment to supporting maritime communities of all sizes.
Ethical Use of Pilotage Data: A Shared Responsibility
One issue that remains close to our hearts is the ethical use of pilotage data. Through our collaborations with clients worldwide, we’ve witnessed both the tremendous benefits and the potential risks—real and perceived—of analysing this sensitive information.
To address this, we developed a Position Statement on the Ethical Use of Pilotage Data. This document outlines our commitment to responsible data use and serves as a call to action for our clients and prospective clients to consider these issues carefully when implementing a TransitAnalyst system.
We invite you to review our Position Statement and share your feedback. Together, we can ensure that data analysis not only drives continuous improvement but also respects the trust and privacy of all stakeholders.
Looking Ahead
As 2024 draws to a close, we’d like to thank our clients and stakeholders for your continued trust and collaboration. Here’s to another year of growth, innovation, and shared success in 2025!
Warm wishes from all of us at TransitAnalyst.
