Engineering

OMC International (OMC) is a multi-disciplinary group with a very specific focus on safer and more efficient shipping. Working for this Melbourne-based company will foster a unique expertise in such areas as hydrodynamics, ship dynamics and coastal engineering. OMC also offers experience in system delivery of innovative technology benefiting the maritime industry.

Engineering Graduates

At OMC we recognise the importance of developing our people to keep them interested, motivated and highly skilled to support our world leading, innovative and fast growing business.

For this reason, we have designed a well-rounded program that aims to develop not only the graduate’s engineering skills, but also capabilities such as problems solving, professional technical excellence, business acumen and communication, providing them with the skills that meet the pre-requisites of a well-rounded professional Engineer.

Graduates will be fully supported by OMC.  Managers and Senior Engineers will be available for Graduates at all times. In addition, Graduates will have the opportunity to meet with their managers every 8 weeks in a scheduled one-on-one meeting to discuss how they are tracking, receive support and direction from their manager and discuss the next steps of the development plan.

The Graduate will be given a Graduate Pack which shows what areas they need to cover over the 2.5 years and how their success will be measured so that the path is clear right from the outset.

In addition to our internal program, OMC has partnered with Engineers Australia to offer Graduates the opportunity to attend Engineers Australia’s Graduate Program at Deakin University making you Chartered ready if decide to then go through the Chartered program.  OMC is a CPEng sponsor and encourages all our Engineers to become Chartered by sponsoring 100% of the program.

Graduate Engineer (Full-Time)

OMC International is a maritime engineering firm providing consulting advice and software systems to the international maritime industry. We currently provide operational under-keel clearance prediction systems to more than 20 major ports in Australasia, Europe and North America. We are a world leading firm of highly technical individuals developing and using cutting edge technology and analysis techniques. Our clients include ports, government authorities, shipping companies and mariners all over the world. Our company is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a talented individual to join our Delivery and Service (Consulting) Department.

Working at OMC will enable you to develop expertise and experience in the following fields:

  • Shipping and port operations
  • Hydrodynamics and coastal processes
  • Environmental and weather sensors
  • Weather and metocean forecasting
  • Hydrographic survey data and bathymetric analysis
  • GPS and Inertial Measurements Unit (IMU) systems
  • Geospatial and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Data processing and analysis
  • Coding and scripting, particularly with Python and Matlab®

The Role:

This primary purpose of this role is to assist the GM of Marketing to increase brand awareness, co-ordinate and implement marketing initiatives and update marketing collateral. Your expertise and experience will be highly valued in the planning and execution of the following areas:

Responsibilities:

  • Collateral development – brochures, web pages, videos etc
  • Contribute to Marketing Plan
  •  Assist GM Marketing to periodically update the strategies and plans contained in the Organise User Workshops
  • Customer satisfaction survey and reporting
  • Develop and publish articles to the OMC Knowledge Base based on raw information or draft material provided by OMC engineers.
  • Implement and maintain OMC’s “Social Media” plan
  • Develop and implement OMC’s Digital Marketing plan
  • Contribute to establishment of corporate Digital Asset Management system
  • Develop, produce, and circulate reports of information gathered from the integrated information systems.
  • General Marketing tasks.

Skills and experience required for the role:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Marketing role.
  • Marketing Degree or equivalent
  • Good writing skills – targeted messaging
  • Social media marketing understanding
  • Market Data analysis and reporting
  • Attention to detail
  • Self starter
  • Team player

Nice to have:

  • Ability to think strategically would enhance prospects for future promotion
