Celebrating 30 Years of Partnership with Fremantle Ports

OMC International is proud to celebrate three decades of continuous collaboration with Fremantle Ports, marking a milestone in maritime innovation and service. Since the commissioning of the DUKC® system in 1994, this partnership has played a pioneering role in advancing port operations worldwide.

DUKC® was first introduced at Fremantle Ports for BP vessels, making Fremantle the world’s first port to use this groundbreaking technology for tankers and inbound vessels. The system’s scope expanded to the Inner Harbour, where Fremantle achieved another global first by applying DUKC® to container vessels.

During the recent Fremantle Ports Maritime Day Celebration, OMC’s contributions were formally recognised, with Fremantle Ports CEO Jodie Ransom presenting a commemorative plaque to OMC’s Founder, Dr Terry O’Brien, and CEO, Peter O’Brien.

The plaque commemorates a significant transit for the port: the arrival of MSC Sindy in March 2020. At a draft of 14.6 metres, the MSC Sindy was the deepest vessel to ever enter Fremantle Harbour – a testament to the capabilities of the DUKC® system.

We extend our gratitude to the many individuals and teams who have contributed to the success of this partnership over the years. Through collaboration and innovation, we have continued to provide solutions that support the safe passage of larger, deeper-draft vessels, minimise dredging, and reduce carbon emissions.

As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions for the maritime industry, helping ports worldwide adapt to evolving challenges and opportunities.
