Milestone: 30 years of DUKC
2023 has marked a special milestone for OMC International; the 30 year anniversary of world’s first Dynamic Underkeel Clearance® System.
Since the first installation at the Port of Hay Point, Australia in 1993, DUKC® has been used to optimise sailing drafts and windows for more than 200,000 transits whilst maintaining a perfect safety record. In addition to Hay Point, OMC’s technology has been deployed to North Queensland Bulk Ports’ operations at Weipa, Amrun, Mackay, and most recently Abbot Point. Now, with over 25 systems operating globally, it is an invaluable tool to manage risk, ensure safety, reduce dredging and shipping related CO2 emissions, and facilitate evidence based, data driven decisions.
