Kiwi project helps OMC score in Amsterdam

WORK on the Port of Lyttelton Dredge Optimisation project has earned OMC International top honours at the 2018 Dredging and Port Construction Awards in Amsterdam.

The awards were held this week in Amsterdam and OMC won the Support Service Provider of the Year for Port of Lyttelton Dredge Optimisation.

Under keel technology earns export award

PORT technology specialist OMC International has been honoured with a special award.

The company received the Governor of Victoria Export Award for its e-Nav Dynamic Under Keel Clearance product, technology which helps with the movement of ships in shallow draft ports and channels.

The award was for “outstanding international success in professional business services including… engineering”.

Coal to the world, growth to the nation

In September 2018 the first-ever African Regional Conference of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) was held in Abuja, Nigeria and attendees included the President of Nigeria, the World Bank, and the African regional Vice President. Ports were described as strategic national assets and synergy and collaboration were sought from those present for more effective and efficient port operations and shipping activities.

Record reported for Torres Strait transit

LEDA Maersk (IMO 9190755) has become the deepest eastbound container vessel to transit Torres Strait.

The Danish-flagged vessel (63,200DWT) was loaded to a draught of 12.5m and left Singapore on September 13.

In collaboration with OMC International, Maersk used the advanced voyage planning functionality of AMSA’s Under Keel Clearance Management System (UKCMS) to optimise the timing of the voyage to ensure a sailing window was available on its arrival at the Torres Strait.

Winning a prestigious 2018 Governor of Victoria Export Award further cements OMC International’s reputation as the industry leader in under-keel clearance management, Executive Director Dr Terry O’Brien AM said today.

Dr O’Brien received the Business Services Award trophy from the Governor of Victoria, the Hon. Linda Dessau AC, at a reception at Government House on Friday night, September 14.

IHMA Port Operations Awards

OMC International's suite of under-keel clearance management innovations, including DUKC® and the Dynamic Port Capacity Model (DPCM®), has been recognised at the inaugural International Harbour Masters Association (IHMA) awards.

Pilbara Ports Authority, in conjunction with industry partner OMC International, wins the IHMA Safe, Efficient and Secure Port Award for UKC management at Port Hedland.

The awards were presented at IHMA’s biennial Congress Dinner held at the Headquarters of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on 27 June 2018.
